Smart Square, LG Uplus’ corporate building on Yongsan, was built as a landmark near the entry to Han River Street as an eco-friendly structure to communicate with the surroundings with culture and space. The unique, bumpy exterior blocks out the deep lights from the east and west and brings in the high lights from the south to reduce energy consumption, and the automatic blind and dimming controls allow users to control the building conditions, turning the entire fixture into a smart building. The IT library on the first floor has also been opened to the public to encourage interactions with the local users, realizing value above and beyond a normal office building. Creation of a park that is open towards the city in the north corner and the indoor landscape in the lobby have turned Smart Square into an oasis that breathes new air of life into the city filled with skyscrapers.
