Catholic University of Korea’s Omnibus Park is a space that integrates educational research spaces and facilities for pharmaceutical and bio companies. We considered different cores and zoning for circulations and qualities of each space. Common spaces (Memorial Hall, Idea Zone) are strategically placed at the intersections of circulations to encourage natural interaction among students, professors, and researchers. In response to evolving learning methods, 'asymmetric learning spaces' and various 'group learning spaces' are provided for medical and nursing schools. Research spaces are uniformly designed with minimum rental unit modules, allowing flexible configurations based on the scale of research projects. An atrium introduced on the third basement floor invites daylight into the common spaces, and a hall with an improved environment is designed to support various university events by connecting with the convention center. The ‘Super Space,’ a place for studying and resting, is designed to have a transparent glass front so that the projected interior symbolically represents the Omnibus Park. The building exterior features vertical louvers and windows, achieving both functionality and neat façade aesthetics. This design imparts a sense of place, making it the future center of industrial-academic research and a distinctive face of the university visible from Banpo-daero.
