First female architect, godmother of architecture industry Chi Soon, former advisor of Gansam passes away

After graduating from the Department of Architecture, Seoul National University, the deceased married Jungsoo Won, an honorary professor of Architecture Department of Inha University who was one year senior in the same major department. In 1966, she acquired an architect qualification as a woman with three children and opened the couple architecture exhibition for the first time in Korea in 1969.
In 1970-1980, she managed Ilyang Architecture Office with his husband. Since the couple designed Bank of Korea headquarter in 1983 as Gansam founding members, they co-served as CEO of Gansam until 2003. In 1995, they won the Korean Architecture Awards for POSCO Center, Korea’s first intelligence building. The deceased was known as Godmother of architecture industry. She was a professor of Housing Life Department, Yonsei University from 1971 to 1991, and served as the first chairman of Korean Women Architects Association, and also as a chairman of Korean Institute of Female Architects.
