The site that borders Gangnam-daero (boulevard) in the south of Teheran-ro (street) is between myriads of business and commercial facilities. The project aimed to plan a vast office building by putting together six small lots and to propose a new façade by Gangnam-daero. First, Gangnam-daero at the front and a narrow path at the rear are connected using the open public space and piloti. This could positively affect the urban blocks of Gangnam by connecting the urban tissue of the area, which is divided inside and outside, and could secure the maximum floor area ratio. The metallic louver filling up the façade, designed from various angles, creates multiple patterns along with the flow of time. This improves the office environment of the building that faces southwest and creates a façade that changes every hour depending on where it is seen on Gangnam-daero, making it a new landmark in town. Second, it was a new attempt toward planes. Avoiding repeated depths and standardized small planes, we suggested an office of approximately 18m in depth, which is not typical for a business facility, and this gave a new competitiveness to the owner. The need to change working patterns is increasing, but the existing building format has limits in fully coping with the change. Finally, there are various forms of metallic louvers. Instead of creating simple and standardized patterns, it was designed as an environment-friendly building that can respond with constant angles, considering the material's unique characteristics and the relationship between the louver and the sunlight. It was a new challenge for leased offices and set a reference point for them. Scale Tower became another milestone in designing a business facility at Gansam by handling these challenges.
