[Selected] Architectural competition of D1-1,2 block development of Special Purpose District, Songdo Station Area

"Multi lifestyle platform combining of transportation, commerce, residence, and culture"

Gansam was selected as the final architect for the development project of Special Purpose District, Songdo Station Area. Development project of Special Purpose District, Songdo Station Area is to develop 2,900 apartment units, commercial facilities, and parks in the area of 291,725㎡ in 104 Okryeon-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It has been executed under the title ‘Okgol District Urban Development Project’ since 2008. The purpose of this competition is to win-win public and private development by re-establishing the land use plan for small parks adjacent to the Special Purpose District consisting of Songdo station site and the land secured by the authorities in recompense of development outlay. Since urban development project and railway project are carried out bimodal, and land development project is also carried out separately, it is the key to propose an organically connected space while each development project can be proceeded independently. Gansam’s proposal was focused on maximizing the utilization of the site and duplicating small park and existing transit facility, as well as combining sales and cultural facilities with high-rise housing, thus bringing out good results. With the symbolism as KTX station which will take a new role for Incheon, it has a high future value to expand the residential zone of Songdo International City.
